Raymond E. Bernacchi, 65

Raymond (Ray) Edward Bernacchi, 65. passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. He was born Jan. 2, 1959, to Raymond and Mary (Schlensig) Bernacchi in Chicago, Ill. Around the age of four years old, his mother Mary moved Ray and his four siblings to her hometown of Dunlap, where Ray lived through adulthood. Ray married Jean Lintin of Soldier, on April 3, 1982, the high school sweethearts were happily together for 42 years. Two children were born of this union, their daughter, Christy, and son, Derek. The family lived in Dunlap until 1999, when they moved to Tekamah, Neb. Ray enjoyed watching them play in numerous activities that he once loved himself.

Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ray loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing with his devoted and loving wife Jean. They spent many summers camping, boating and fishing in South Dakota. It was his happy place. Ray enjoyed playing on the Blackshirts softball team in Dunlap.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father, Raymond; two brothers, John and Mark; sister, Jeanette Nusser; father and mother in-law, John and Verda Lintin; and brother-in-law, John (JoAnn) Lintin. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Christy and her husband Nick Langland of Baltic, S.D.; son, Derek Bernacchi of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren, McKinley, Lincoln, Carter and Walker; sister, Corinne and her husband Mike Schram of Tekamah, Neb.; nieces, Natalie and her husband Matt Ringen of Shelby and Nikki and her husband Nick Rosenow of Shelby; brothers-in-law, Jim Lintin and Dan Lintin (Mike Hempel); sister-in-law, Nancy Schroeder; and many friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap. Rev. Chip Borgstadt presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “Rock of Ages” by Carrie Underwood and “In the Garden” by Ann Murray.
