Shawn Sue (MayBee) Salter, 65, of Logan, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Shawn was born in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Richard MayBee and Mary (Lee) MayBee. She was the third of six siblings. At age 13, she and her family moved to Moorhead, where Shawn met Robert Salter. They were married in 1976, and had three children: James, Carrie, and Stacy.
Shawn worked as a CNA at Westmont Care Center, then Immanuel Medical Center Rehab. While at Immanuel, Shawn attended Iowa Western Community College’s LPN program, graduating in 1994. She continued to work at Immanuel Rehab for many years, before moving on to other locations in the CHI family. Shawn retired in 2022 from CHI Health Clinic in Missouri Valley, upon receiving her cancer diagnosis. It was difficult for her to retire, as she was a deeply caring person who loved her job.
Shawn loved crafting, baking for her family, playing the piano and singing in church. She loved her grandkids more than anything in the world and loved her job as a grandma. Shawn enjoyed being silly, telling jokes and putting smiles on her co-workers' faces.
Shawn was a wonderful mother, grandmother and nurse who loved taking care of people. She found great joy in healing the sick and caring for her loved ones. Shawn enjoyed sitting on the porch with friends and family, visiting for hours at a time.
Shawn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Salter; brothers Richard MayBee, Mark MayBee and Edward MayBee.
Shawn is survived by her sisters, Renee Emmart of Montana; Kathy Mathew of Logan; her children, James (Jessica) Salter of Oklahoma, Carrie (Jacob) Montanez of New York, and Stacy Salter of Logan. Shawn has seven grandchildren: Logan and Harrison Salter; Seth, Sidra and Sean Montanez; Dawson and Sadie Clark; and dearest friend Kandi Archer of Missouri Valley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted on May 9, 2025, at Landmark Baptist Church in Logan.
Arrangements made by Logan Memorial Chapel, Logan.
