IMOGENE – Senator Costello, R-Imogene, is announcing his reelection for Senate District 8.

The past several years have produced many historic accomplishments and major steps forward for the state of Iowa,” said Senator Costello. “Not only have we passed massive income tax and property tax relief legislation for Iowans, we have also passed important policies to help save the lives of babies and support mothers, and gave Iowa parents more choice and power over their child’s education.

I am pleased with these successes, but I also know our work is not done. That work is why I’m announcing for another term in the Iowa Senate. We have been moving our state in the right direction and I know there is more I can do to help build on these successes to lower the tax burden on Iowans and create more career opportunities in southwest Iowa.”

Sen. Mark Costello grew up in rural Imogene, graduating from Nishna Valley High School and the University of Northern Iowa in 1984. He was employed as a computer programmer/analyst with Garst Seed Company in Coon Rapids, Iowa, for five years prior to returning to the family farm.

Sen. Costello and his wife, Rachel, were married in 2001 and have five children, Matthew, Julia, Peter, Ethan and Andrew. The family resides on their farm in Mills County where they raise corn and soybeans. Rachel is a native of Lacona, Iowa, and she home-schools and cares for their children. The Costellos attend Sunnyside Bible Chapel in Atlantic.

Senator Costello was elected to the Iowa House in 2012 representing House District 23, and was first elected to the Iowa Senate in a special election in 2014.

Senate District 8 includes Fremont, Mills, and Harrison counties and most of Pottawattamie County.
