Roger Donald Dunham, 82 a longtime resident of Dunlap died on Oct. 14, 2020, at the Crawford County Community Memorial Hospital in Denison. He was born Mar. 8, 1938, to Donald and Agnes (Pederson) Dunham near Dunlap. He was raised near Dunlap, attended school, and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1957. Roger worked on the farm with his father, raised prized hogs, was known as the animal whisperer, and worked for Dunham’s Lawn Service. Roger married Bonnie Johnson, but she tragically died in a car accident.

Roger loved high school basketball and all other Dunlap sports. He also enjoyed bowling. He attended Bible studies, wrote books on the history of Dunlap basketball and on the history of the nativity scene. He also worked at the nativity scene with his mother. Roger was a great story teller, raised a large garden, shared the produce from his garden and he particularly loved tulips.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Bonnie Dunham. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Wool of Colorado Springs, Colo.; niece, Carrie Peterson of Colorado Springs; two great nieces, Emma & Elisabeth Peterson; one great nephew, Ian Miller; Bonnie’s children, Sheila, Linda, Rodney, Merri and Tammy; and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap. Officiating was Certified Celebrant Beth Fouts. Recorded Musical Selections were “How Great Thou Art” by Elvis Presley and “I’ll Fly Away” by Johnny Cash.

Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap was in charge of the arrangements.
