Richard Allen “Rich” Miles was born July 18, 1940 in the Miles farmhouse in Nelson Hallow, three miles west of Dunlap. He passed away July 30, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Rich was the sixth child born to Marcus “Marc” or “Doc” Miles and Phyllis Widney Miles. Rich attended Boyer No. 9 Country school with his siblings until their father passed away from a heart attack. Phyllis moved her family to Wahoo, Neb., where Rich graduated from high school in 1958.

Rich married Darla Nelson on July 20, 2002. He lived in Omaha all his adult life. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Marcus and Phyllis; sister, Barbara Long; brother, Edward Miles; stepson, Shawn Colman; sisters-in-law, Viola Springer Miles and Janice Oliver Miles; brothers-in-law, Wayne Long, Clair McCord and Jerre Wojtkewicz; nieces, Leesa Miles and Susan Miles Goodwin; nephews, Roger McCord and Greg McCord; and his grandparents.

Survivers include Rich’s wife, Darla; children, Bradley (Elisabeth) Miles, Amanda (Mike) Fry, Jeff Miles (Shirley), Angie (Joe) Van Norstrand and Isabelle Coleman; grandchildren, Zach, Keegan, Anna, Carl, Jeff Jr., Sean, Kyle and Britney; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Marge McCord, Marcus Miles Jr., Jim (Marla) Miles and Mary Ellen Wojtkewicz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life service was August 17 at the Elks Lodge in Omaha, with Pastor Dave Kersting officiating.
