Myrtle M. Hubbard, 96

Myrtle Mae Hubbard was born on July 13, 1924, to Myrln and Opal (Cover) Jones in Washington Township in Crawford County. She was raised near Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School. Myrtle was known as Myrt or Squirt Jones. Myrt met her husband to be, Miles Hubbard, while working for Glenn L Martin Co. in Nokomis, Illinois making blue prints. She worked there until WWII ended. The couple married on January 28, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. and made their home in Illinois. Miles died in 2007.

Myrt was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi. In her later years, she enjoyed returning to Dunlap to be near her cousins, Vernon and Jack Hawn.

Myrt died on Oct. 21, 2020, at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison, at the age of 96 years, three months, and eight days.

Myrt was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lila Shull and Norene Ray. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Skalleberg of Chicago, Ill. and Connie and her husband Lyndell Wernsing of Raymond, Ill.; granddaughter, Brandy and her husband Drew O’Malley of Witt, Ill.; brother, Robert Jones of Humboldt, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
