Mondamin man killed in July 9 crash

Ross Kessler, 37, of Mondamin, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Black Hawk County on July 9.

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, 20-year old Joel Wildeboer, of Cedar Falls, was eastbound on Tama Road and failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign, where Kessler was southbound on Highway 63.

The report states that Wildeboer struck Kessler's Kenworth truck in the left front, causing the tanker to tip onto its side and enter the west ditch.

Kessler was transported to Mercy One by Hudson ambulance, where he died of his injuries. Assisting on the scene was the Hudson Police Department, Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, Hudson Fire and Rescue, Waterloo Fire Hazmat and the Reinbeck Fire Department.

Kessler is survived by his wife, Amanda, and two children, Wade and Madison. An obituary can be found at missourivalleytimes.com.
