Michelle Lynn Grady Winegar, 46, died at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 29, 1977, to James and Jane (Klein) Grady.  She grew up in Dunlap and graduated in the class of 1995.  Michelle lived in Huron, SD for a short time before she returned to Dunlap and joined the family farming operation. She loved working with her father and brother, Max. Michelle married Jason Winegar on February 23, 2016. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap.

Michelle’s heart came alive with her children, Abby, Parker and Beck. They were truly the loves of her life. She attended many sporting events and taught them the importance of family and hard work. Michelle had an uncanny talent for “chasing cattle and kids” and effortlessly juggled the responsibilities of a nurturing mother, supportive friend and farmer – all while embracing the adventures that life presented. Her home and deck were a gathering spot for friends and family. Michelle’s ability to find joy in the simplest moments taught us that even amidst trials, happiness can always be found. Despite her circumstances, Michelle always declared she was “sparkletacular”.

Michelle was passionate about all creatures great and small. A true animal lover, she dedicated her time and energy to the well-being of our furry friends. She instilled in her children that very same love. Michelle also had a deep appreciation for the beauty of flowers. The vibrant colors and delicate fragrances she cultivated became poetic expressions that mirrored her own vibrant spirit.

Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis Klein and Wendell and Dolores Grady. She is survived by her children, Abigail Mandel, Parker Winegar and Beck Winegar; step-children, Paydon and Aleah Winegar; parents, James and Jane Grady of Dunlap; brother, Max and Carly Grady of Dunlap; grandmother, Phyllis Klein of Dunlap; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. Reverand Joel McNeil presided over the service.
