A crash in Poweshiek County, which is located between Des Moines and Iowa City, proved fatal for a Logan man Wednesday morning.
Christopher Phillip Hudnut, 52, was ejected from his vehicle due to a tire failure while heading westbound on Highway 85. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle and leave the roadway, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash took place at approximately 11:28 a.m. in the 1600 block of Highway 85. The report also states that Hudnut was driving a 1996 Peterbilt dump truck which was loaded with gravel.
Hudnut was the sole occupant of the vehicle and the sole decedent of the crash. The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office assisted the Iowa State Patrol in its response.
