Linda K. Beam, 73

Linda Kay Beam was born on Aug. 7, 1947, to Dick and Maxine (Pitkin) Hamblen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. Linda received her education in the Arion and Dow City Schools. Linda married the love of her life, Eddie Beam on Dec. 30, 1968.  To this union four children were born, Andrea, Brenda, Cathy and Eddie. As a young woman, Linda worked at the St. Patrick Catholic Church and Larson’s Café. As an adult, Linda did daycare for over 20 years. 

Linda adored her husband Ed, she loved pickup rides, driving to get malts, going to the casino and holding his hand any chance she got. Linda also treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sit outside and visit in the summer, counting the boxcars as the trains went by, listening to Conway Twitty and spending as much quality time with her family as she could. Linda loved the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, loved watching humming birds come to her many feeders, loved to go to garage sales and New Hope, her two pugs Vito and Sissy Sue and always treasured cards and calls from her best friend of over fifty years, Sheila Schulte.

Linda died on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at the Select Hospital in Omaha, Neb., at the age of 73 years, six months and seven days.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed on Dec. 18, 2020. She is survived by her; four children, Andrea (Scott) Ellison of Arion, Brenda (Jerry) Brus of Denison, Cathy (Billy) Whitenack of Arion and Eddie Beam of Arion; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, David, Jake, Ashlee, Justin, Jerred, BreeAnna, Brady, Katilyn, Coby and Paige; great-grandchildren, RayLee, Korra, Jonah, Mason, Braylynn and baby Whitenack due later this year; two sisters, Kathy (Mark) Grant of Arion and Barb Block of Dunlap; four brothers, Steve (Jacque) Hamblen, Terry Hamblen and Denny Hamblen all of Dunlap and Al (Jolene) Hamblen of Onawa and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held at a later date.

Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap is in charge of arrangements.
