Jodi A. Klein, 59

Jodi Ann Klein, 59, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home in Dunlap. She was born on July 22, 1963, to Duane (Bob) and Muriel (Frericks) Meneely in LeMars. Jodi graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1982. After graduation, Jodi attended Western Iowa Tech, it was here that she met Paul Klein. Jodi then continued her education at Marshalltown College earning her Registered Nurse degree. Jodi and Paul Klein were married on Sept. 2, 1989, at Remsen St. Mary's Catholic Church. The couple eventually settled on their farm in Dunlap in 2001 where together they raised three beautiful children. During her lifetime Jodi worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, and the Creighton Cardiac Center in Omaha for approximately 17 years. After this, Jodi then went on to become the school nurse for Boyer Valley for 14 more years.

Jodi was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and an REP teacher. She was also a member of the Iowa School Nurses Organization. Jodi loved her animals, enjoyed golfing, sports, Hallmark movies and especially trips to Okoboji with family. 

Jodi was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Paul Klein of Dunlap; three children, Christian Klein and his girlfriend Hattie of Dunlap, Carter Klein of Dunlap and Cathryn Klein of Omaha, Neb.; mother, Muriel Meneely of Halfmoon Bay, Calif.; siblings, Steve Meneely of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Knute Meneely and his wife Kay of Jackson, Minn., Judd Meneely and his wife Barb of Atlantic and Kim LeVin of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends

Jodi was intelligent, wildly funny, outgoing, and more than anything she was caring. Her warmth, strength, and selflessness will continue to inspire, and she will be deeply missed. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. Reverend Joel McNeil presided over the service assisted by Deacon Marvin Klein. The musicians were Ann Gredys, Karen English and Will Green. The honorary pallbearers were Kami Behrendt, Peg Hawkins, Theresa McAllister, Hollie Nelson and Mary Ellen Sharp. The pallbearers were Christian Klein, Carter Klein, Cathryn Klein, Steve Meneely, Knute Meneely, Judd Meneely and Kim Levin. Nursing honors were given by the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard. Jodi’s final resting place is at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
