Jeanne M. Hoffmann, 77

Jeanne Miriam (Fitzpatrick) Hoffmann, 77, died on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. She was born on May 29, 1945, to Joseph and Regina (Rule) Fitzpatrick in Denison. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1963, as the valedictorian of her class. Following high school, she attended the College of St. Mary and worked at the Army Corps of Engineers. In 1965, Jeanne married James Hoffmann at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. To this union four children were born, John, Joe, Judi and Jeff. Jeanne held several bookkeeping positions over the years and retired from Mosaic in 2015 after 23 years of service.

Jeanne was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She and Jim enjoyed camping. Their love for camping extended to the entire family. Jeanne’s life revolved around her children and grandchildren. As long as her health permitted, she delighted in attending all of their activities. Jeanne loved giving and receiving flowers. She was delighted when her family, on each Mother’s Day, planted flowers all around her house. Family traditions were very important to Jeanne such as: annual camping trips to Willow Lake, Christmas tree hunting and Halloween gatherings.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Hoffmann; and grandson, Jason Hoffmann. She is survived by her four children, John (Karen) Hoffmann and Joe (Stannis) Hoffmann both of Dunlap, Judi (Neil) Schmitz of Westphalia and Jeff (Melanie) Hoffmann of Elkhorn, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Hoffmann, Kyle Schmitz, Sophia Hoffmann, Claire Schmitz and Mason and Beau Hoffmann; sister, Sr. Jude Fitzpatrick of Des Moines; three brothers, Joe Ray Fitzpatrick of Dow City, John (Beverly) Fitzpatrick of Hot Springs, Ark. and Jim (Nimet) Fitzpatrick of Sun City, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. Reverend Joel McNeil presided over the service assisted by Deacon Gail Stessman. The music was by EveVonne Muff and the St. Patrick’s Choir. The pallbearers were Justin Hoffmann, Tyler Hoffmann, Kyle Schmitz, Sophia Hoffmann, Claire Schmitz, Mason Hoffmann and Beau Hoffmann. Jeanne’s final resting place is at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
