Inspections were recently conducted by the Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing Food Safety Specialists at various Harrison County establishments. Listed below are the restaurants that were examined, their violations, if any, and what was done to remedy them.

BC's Pizza Co. in Logan had the most citations of any restaurant in the area from the recent inspection period with seven violations.

The inspector, who visited the site on Nov. 21, described the following violations:

  • Facility does not employ a Certified Food Protection Manager

  • Facility does not have a verifiable health policy or training

  • Employee put on gloves before making a sandwich without first washing hands

  • Facility does not have a written procedure for cleaning up vomit or diarrhea event

  • Sliced and shredded cheese do not have date marking. This was corrected by the manager, who marked the cheese with a date.

  • Commercially made sauces had discard dates in August and October. The manager then discarded the out-of-date items.

  • Spray bottles containing what appeared to be glass cleaner or sanitizer were not labeled. The manager then labeled the bottles.

Dave's Old Home in Pisgah received the second-most violations in the county with six during a Nov. 7 visit. They were:

  • Facility does not have an employee health policy.

  • Facility does not have a written procedure for vomit and diarrhea clean up.

  • Facility's menu does not contain a disclosure of items served undercooked or raw.

  • Hand sink did not have soap. The owner then stocked hand soap during the inspection.

  • A spray bottle of sanitizer was not labeled.

Two other Logan locations each received one violation during Oct. 23 visits.

The Twisted Tail was cited for having no disclosure of menu items offered or served raw or undercooked.

Bamboo Village received the most violations in Missouri Valley with three. During a Nov. 19 visit, an inspector marked the following:

  • Facility does not have a verifiable employee health policy.

  • Meat was stored improperly in the walk-in cooler, with chicken over beef and raw shell eggs over ready-to-eat sauce. This was corrected by the owner who rearranged the walk-in cooler in order to properly stack the raw animal proteins.

  • Hand washing sink was not accessible due to two cutting boards in the sink basin. The owner then moved the cutting boards.
