Edward Androy DeLozier, 95, died on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Brookstone Nursing Home in Papillion, Neb. He was born Oct. 8, 1928, to Bert Aaron and Susie Hazel (Androy) DeLozier in Woodbine. He was raised in the Woodbine and Pisgah areas, and graduated from Tennant High School in 1947 in Tennant. Ed proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. In 1949, Ed married Joyce Messerschmidt in Yuma, Ariz. The couple lived in Des Moines, Milwaukee and Pueblo, Colo. After returning to Logan, Ed worked for the Council Bluffs Parks Department. He then started farming with Gifford Hein and later purchased this farm.
The couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Ed also enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and walking. Additionally, he enjoyed being out on the farm.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joyce on Dec. 3, 2018. He is survived by his four children, Jim DeLozier and his wife Deb of Dunlap, Sally and her husband Jim Heitz of Omaha, Neb., Royce DeLozier and his wife Linda of Hooper, Neb., Cynthia and her husband Charles Safilian of West Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Allen of Council Bluffs; and many other relatives and friends.
A private memorial service was held by the family. Military Rites were performed by the United States Navy Honor Guard and Weiss American Legion Post #143. Ed’s final resting place is at the Woodbine Cemetery.
