DCDC brings physical therapy to Dunlap

DCDC is excited to announce that Horizon Physical Therapy will soon be leasing space and accepting clients within the DCDC building on Dunlap’s Main Street. Horizon Physical Therapy is owned by Ben Deutschman.

Deutschman grew up outside of North Platte, Neb. He attended Concordia University in Seward, Neb., obtaining a degree in biology before going on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He currently lives outside of Blair, Neb. with his wife, Toni, and their two sons, Brock, 11 and Brody, 8.

I went into physical therapy because I grew up playing sports and had a few injuries throughout the years,” Deutschman shared. “Physical therapy helped me return to what I loved to do. Also, while I was in college, my grandfather had his knee replaced and was in physical therapy. I was considering a few different career paths. My grandpa really encouraged me to pursue physical therapy as a profession.”

Deutschman began working for Horizon Rehabilitation Centers in 2010 after graduating from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He worked at offices in both Omaha and Blair.

In 2014 I opened a new Horizon location in Logan, Iowa, and became an owner of that clinic,” he said. “I have worked solely in Logan for the past six years.”

Recently, DCDC approached Deutschman with an opportunity to expand his practice into the Dunlap community, and his response was positive.

I’m a small-town guy,” Deutschman explained. “I believe that people shouldn’t have to travel long distances for great medical care. Dunlap has a need for physical therapy services, and I want to help fill this need with high quality care.”

Jill Schaben, Executive Director for DCDC, elaborated on the topic.

In the spring of 2022, DCDC took ownership of the facility on Main Street that was formerly occupied by a Burgess Clinic and Pharmacy,” Schaben said. “Since that time, DCDC has signed lease agreements with a new pharmacy, Family Connections mental health services and now, Horizon Physical Therapy.

DCDC is thrilled that these relationships have been created and that these services will be easily within reach for Dunlap community members,” Schaben continued. “Ben Deutschman comes highly recommended as a physical therapist and we know that the Dunlap community will benefit greatly from his presence here.”

Horizon Physical Therapy plans to begin accepting patients in their new space around the beginning of April. Initially, Deutschman plans to offer clinic hours three days a week, but will increase service availability as his client base grows.

To make an appointment, for the time being, you will need to contact Horizon Physical Therapy’s Logan branch at (712) 644-3456. Most insurance policies do require a referral from a physician for physical therapy services.
