Colleen Ann Schaupp was born on April 9, 1945, in Blair, Neb., to Leslie and Eva (Moldin) Gilbert. She grew up and attended school in Tekamah, Neb. Colleen was united in marriage to Emmett Davis on Aug. 25, 1963, and they were blessed with two children. The couple lived in Tekamah. Colleen worked diligently at Campbell Soup in Fremont and later at Western Electric in Omaha. On Jan. 16, 1985, she married William Schaupp in Hawaii. After settling in Dunlap, she devoted 18 years of her life to working at the Dunlap Care Center until her well-deserved retirement.
Colleen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She found joy in simple pleasures. Colleen found solace being on the farm, tending to her garden, embracing her love for cooking, and immersing herself in the beauty of nature. She treasured time spent with family and friends.
Colleen died on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, at the age of 79 years, three months and two days.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents and son, Heath Lee “Jake” Sparks. She is survived by her husband, William Schaupp; daughter, Crystal and her husband Bill Shafer of Woodbine; son, Troy Davis and his wife Sandy of Odebolt; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Kjeldgaard of Ozark, Ala.; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 pm to 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 17th at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap with a memorial service at 3:30 pm that day at the funeral home. There will be refreshments during the visitation and following the service at the funeral home.
